Welcome to the Greater Southern Waterfront, Singapore’s new primary gateway and a prime location for urban living along the southern coast. Stretching from Pasir Panjang to Marina East, this massive waterfront development is set to transform the city’s landscape. With development taking place in phases over the next 5 to 10 years, we can look forward to exciting changes in the former Pasir Panjang Power District, Keppel Club, and Mount Faber.

Power-Up Pasir Panjang: Reimagining the Power District

The Pasir Panjang Power District, with its waterfront setting and rich industrial heritage, is ripe for transformation. The district’s two former power station buildings, built in the 1950s and 60s, together with the surrounding disused industrial structures, form the core of this unique site. The “Power-Up Pasir Panjang” ideas competition called for public input to envision future possibilities for the district and celebrate its distinctive heritage. Keep an eye out for an exhibition showcasing creative submissions and distilling valuable ideas and concepts into design principles for the power district’s future use.

Accessibility and Connectivity: Linking Green and Blue Spaces

The Greater Southern Waterfront will feature a continuous promenade, seamlessly connecting various places of interest. One highlight is the new Pasir Panjang Linear Park, which will link West Coast Park to Labrador Nature Reserve, offering park users an up-close glimpse of Pasir Panjang’s working container port and Power District.

Future connections will also link waterfront attractions to the hilltops, creating a unique recreational experience for visitors. One Faber Group is studying a new funicular system at Mount Faber, set to launch by 2023, which will provide easy access from the foothills to the hilltop and cable car station, connecting to the ten km-long Southern Ridges.

Urban Living: Integrating with Nature and Water

The Keppel Club site is set for redevelopment into a vibrant residential precinct. Future residents will enjoy convenient access to the waterfront, nature, and two nearby MRT stations. The site’s development will be guided by a comprehensive green and blue plan, responding sensitively to the existing context and topography and complementing nearby Berlayer Creek and Labrador Park. In addition, the neighborhood will be walkable and well-connected to public transport nodes and amenities.
